How can I say if my plant is on the verge of dying, and how can I stop this? Plus

There are many telling signs that show you the health of your plant. Look for signs like:

  • Wilting leaves
  • Plant/soil not holding water
  • Yellowing leaves
  • Roots at the surface or coming through drainage holes
  • Tips/edges of leaves turning brown
  • Flower buds form then drop off before opening, or shrivel soon after opening
  • Brown, burnt-looking spots on the top of leaves
  • Dropping leaves
  • Black dots on leaves, or brown marks with a yellow ring
  • Changing leaf colour

What you can do to stop it:

  1. Repot your plant. Use a high-quality indoor plant potting mix to revitalize your plant, and choose a pot that's wider than the last one.
  2. Trim your plant. If there's damage to the roots, trim back the leaves.
  3. Move your plant to another, brighter place
  4. Water your plant regularly
  5. Feed your plant.
  6. Wipe your plant.
Why are the leaves of my plants turning yellow? Plus

If you have been noticing your plants turn yellow, then this may be because of poor drainage or improper watering. Either you have been watering them too much or too little. In overly wet soil, roots can't breathe. They suffocate, shut down and stop delivering the water and nutrients plants need. Underwatering, or drought, has a similar effect.

How does the self-watering planter work? Plus

Self-watering planters use sub-irrigation to deliver water directly to plant roots. The water reservoir at the bottom of the planter allows the plant to drink at its own pace and visually shows caregivers when it is time to water, with an empty reservoir.

How often should I mist my plants? Plus

Misting is one of the top things that you can do for your houseplants. We advise misting your houseplants at least once or twice per week. Generally speaking, thinner leaves are an indication a plant will need extra humidity.
