5 New Year’s resolutions that are bound to jazz up 2018 for you

December 28, 2017

New Year is coming soon, and this is that time when people start to make their New Year’s resolutions as an attempt to improve their lifestyle or their personality and be a happier and a more determined person. Some people are stellar at sticking to their resolutions, but some get carried away out of immense excitement and tend to break theirs. It is not as easy to stick to your New Year’s resolutions as it is to make them, especially the addictive ones that you do habitually, e.g., smoking, drinking, driving fast, or using Facebook. So, it is better to be self-aware and avoid the tradition of making unrealistic resolutions and then breaking them than to feel bad about yourself and lose all your hope. Realistic resolutions are easy to pull off and are a great way to feel good about yourself. When your resolution does not require you to shrug off something that makes you happy or gets you excited, it becomes doable. The experiences that you have in a year define how fun the year is for you. So, the best way to make your New Year’s resolutions is to ensure that they are feasible and lead to good experiences. Here are five New Year’s resolutions that are bound to jazz up 2018 for you:

  1. Make your Netflix account and be regular at it

Yes, you saw it right. Netflix is trending, and it is a varied gamut of entertainment. It has so many movies, web series, comedy shows, and comedy gigs that you are never going to run out of good options. Life is too short to derive entertainment all the time out of your habit of socializing. People might be boring, but Netflix won’t be. Everything that Netflix has right now is like a box of nachos or chocolates, as you just can’t get enough of it. Some of the Netflix beauties that we would like to suggest you are Stranger Things, The Crown, Bojack Horseman, and Mindhunter. So, make a resolution that you will ensure you are regular at keeping yourself entertained with Netflix.

  1. Travel once every three months, at least

Often, you spend your money on things, but it rarely happens when you spend it on an experience that you cherish forever. Life is all about having valuable experiences and seeking timeless happiness. The kind of happiness that your love for materialism gives you does not have the desired level of longevity. Don’t worry, this is not turning into a motivational speech as we know you are going to buy your favorite things anyway. But, this is surely one additional thing that you can do to enjoy the bliss of boundless experiences and have a sense of contentment. So, make a resolution that you are going to travel once every three months, irrespective of whether you go alone or with your friends.

  1. Talk to your parents once every day, at least.

Solitude is bliss and living away from your family is a fun and learning experience. However, sometimes we unknowingly end up ignoring our parents when everything is going well because we think it is just fine, and talking every day is not necessary to show you love them. This sounds logical, but being illogical for the sake of their happiness is not that big of a deal. In fact, if you think, it is just a matter of some time. Talking to them every day and letting them know you are okay gives them their share of peace and contentment. Your practicality would never be able to make them feel as good as your thoughtfulness. So, when your parents are involved, throw that pseudo-practicality of yours in a dustbin. So, make a resolution that you will talk to your parents once every day, irrespective of whether you are at a friend’s place or just not in the mood to talk.

  1. Exercise regularly and keep yourself fit

Technological advancements have made it so hassle-free and convenient for us to get done with our everyday things that we have almost forgotten to focus on our health. It might not be inevitable, but the effects of being lazy and staying at home like a pumpkin are dangerous and unhealthy. We think the world is moving so fast that we need to be constantly busy achieving something or reaching somewhere. But, what’s the point of achieving what you want to achieve if you are not mentally and physically fit enough to enjoy it? So it’s high time we realize that we have been glued to our mobile and laptop screens for a long time and it is important that we start doing some form of physical exercise on a regular basis, e.g. Yoga or running. So, make a resolution that you will exercise regularly and keep yourself fit.

5. Embrace your individuality

This problem is not new, but it has become bigger after the social media world has taken a toll on everybody. On FB or Instagram, you have an option to control the projection of your personality based on what you want to come across as a person. People are too busy fantasizing the idea of obtaining that perfect image to accept themselves the way they are and trying to be their best version. They are fast at forming opinions on almost everything, even if it does not affect them in any way. They want to fit in everywhere. If you did not like GOT, do not pretend you liked it just because everybody has gone gaga over it on the Internet. So, instead of trying to come across as profound and ending up looking like a pseudo-profound person (basically imbecile), embrace your individuality and try to work on the things that help you attain the best version of yourself. Be unique, be weird, and embrace your quirkiness!
